By Antony Gedge in Health

HYWEL Dda Health Board is to launch a bid to boost staff numbers in Ceredigion’s paediatric services as part of a recruitment campaign across the health board area.

The board is hoping to attract new staff members for paediatric services by showing the benefits of working in west Wales and raising the profile of the service and has launched a dedicated webpage with information about the services locally, including videos and testimonials about the services.

Simon Fountain-Polley, the clinical lead for acute paediatrics, said: “Working in west Wales offers the opportunity to combine innovative, challenging clinical work against the backdrop of amazing coastal and mountainous surroundings.

“We’re looking to develop our established team with colleagues who bring a foundation in general paediatric practice alongside special interests."

The paediatric recruitment campaign is part of an overall effort to boost recruitment across the health board with a number of events planned for the coming year, including recruitment open days.

An open day will be held at Bronglais Hospital, Aberystwyth, on Friday, 31 March.

Similar events have been planned for Withybush Hospital in Pembrokeshire and Glangwili Hospital, Carmarthen.
